Group 1: Research Agenda Targeted Toward Educational Reform
Group 2: Instructional Initiatives Targeted Toward Educational Reform

Purpose and Overview

The objective of the Breakout Sessions was to allow the Think Tank presenters and participants to brainstorm and prioritize recommendations in response to the questions posed to each breakout group. The process was designed to encourage all individuals to provide input and maximize the thinking of the group. Each breakout group was subdivided into groups of 2 or 3 to discuss the questions posed, and provided six minutes for initial brainstorming. The breakout group was then reconvened to share their ideas in a round robin process. Once all ideas had been listed on chart paper, the group undertook the task of prioritizing these recommendations. Finally, the two breakout groups joined together and each shared their top recommendations with the other group.
